AOM133: Advanced Vehicle Body Repair Techniques for Technicians

 

Introduction to AOM133

AOM133 is tailored for technicians tasked with repairing vehicle bodies, offering specialized training in modern repair methods and meeting stringent industry standards. The module covers the replacement of a sill section using adhesive bonding and mechanical fastenings.  The module also assesses technicians’ ability to follow a researched repair method to remove existing bonded and mechanically fixed panels, apply blind rivets, self-piercing rivets, flow form rivets and use structural adhesives in with a reinforcement plate.

Prerequisites and Recommendations

Technicians interested in undertaking AOM133 should have a minimum of two years' experience in the industry. This ensures familiarity with the necessary skills, knowledge, and techniques required to repair and replace body components effectively.

 AOM-133 Bonding and Riveting Test

 

This module provides another option for accident repair workshops to be compliant with the requirements of BS10125, in relation to bonding and mechanical fastenings.

 

Course Content

  • Methods Instruction 
  • Pneumatic rivet tool operation 
  • SPR removal and refitting
  • Flow Form Rivet installation 
  • Breakstem Rivet installation
  • Panel bonding preparation and installation

All test samples, rivets and bonding materials are supplied as part of the course. Pre course training can be offered prior to test.

 

WHAT'S REQUIRED

A set area is required for the test with welding curtains to protect the rest of the workshop users. 

Each Engineer requires there own hand tools including air saw, belt sander,  hammer, chisels etc. Drill bits, bonding material rivet tool and rivets are supplied.
