This is a mobile welding fume extraction unit for use in bodyshops, fabrication areas and general mechanical workshops. It captures fumes close to the welding operation, then passes them through staged filtration and activated carbon before the filtered air is returned to the workplace.

In practice, the 150 mm extraction arm needs positioning close to the weld without obstructing the operator or shielding gas. The unit is intended for intermittent workshop extraction rather than replacing good general ventilation, particularly when welding coated, painted or contaminated materials.

Correct electrical setup is important. The 240 V version requires a suitable dedicated supply with appropriate circuit-breaker and differential protection. Filters also need checking and replacing at the correct intervals, as a loaded prefilter or saturated carbon stage will reduce airflow and leave odour in the working area.

A common issue is placing the hood too far from the arc and then assuming the extractor is underperforming. Keeping the arm close, maintaining clear airflow and servicing the filter pack regularly gives dependable extraction and better day-to-day workshop efficiency.

What is the correct power supply for this Cobra fume extraction unit?

The Cobra Stealth range is available in different voltage versions. The 230V version requires a suitable single-phase 230V workshop supply. Check the product label and order details before installation, as the related WFE-006 model is listed as 110V and the 240V version uses a different model code.

What airflow and extraction reach does it provide?

It provides a nominal airflow of 1,400 m³/h and approximately 1,300 m³/h at the hood. The flexible extraction arm is 3 metres long with a 150 mm diameter, allowing the hood to be positioned close to the welding point for effective capture.

What filtration does the Cobra use, and is it suitable for grinding dust?
